Afghan - German Association for Education, Health and Handicrafts e.V.
On June 23, 2002 a group of German and Afghan teachers, engineers and journalists as well as friends and committed fellow citizens founded the non-profit association AFGHAN eV in Berlin - Friedenau, which has set itself the goal of providing development aid within the scope of its possibilities, focusing on the areas of EDUCATION, HEALTH and HANDWERK through direct help on site based on personal contacts and current needs.
The foundation of the association goes back to the initiative of two people: Dr. Safi Baborie, who grew up as the son of a diplomat both in Afghanistan and in Germany and was very familiar with both cultures, and Heiner Hütsch, former teacher at the Georg-von-Giesche-Oberschule in Berlin, who is now committed to his long school experience for started school building in Afghanistan.
All projects of the association are based on the principle of helping people to help themselves and should contribute to the fact that those affected can take care of themselves in the long term.
The main focuses of our work are:
- Establishment and expansion of schools in Afghanistan
- Computer lessons in a school in Shotul, Panjshir Province
- Drinking water supply for Afghan schoolchildren in Shotul
- Midwifery project: "Mothers and Sisters Hygiene" (M&SH) in Kabul
- Support for the “Charmaghz” library bus in Kabul
The members are motivated, as far as they can, to provide development aid mainly in the areas of EDUCATION, HEALTH and CRAFTS in Afghanistan.
